Ramesseum Temple
This temple is a fine example for the greatness of the ancient Egyptian architecture. It belongs to king Ramsses II who ruled Egypt more than 67 years as one of longest reigns in ancient Egypt. Ramesseum Temple was built to be a mortuary and memorial temple for king Ramsses II and it contains a broken statue for him which if it was still intact, it would be the biggest statue in the world.
The walls of this temple are decorated by the scenes of the famous Kaddesh Battle which led by Ramsses II against the Hittites in Minor Asia and so many other scenes for the king presenting offrings to the different gods of the ancient Egyptians.

The outstanding mud-brick vaults and rooms were used as storerooms in which raw materials and perishable foodstuffs such as corn, wine, oils, honey and incense were stored. Ramesseum has inspired many artists and painters such as D. Roberts and later William H. Bartlett. It also inspired poets like Percy Bysche Shelley in his poem Ozymandias of Egypt
